The challenge
Octopus' EV-tariff customers charge across hundreds of CPO networks in Europe. Maintaining an OCPI integration with each network, including every version difference, tariff translation and session format, was undifferentiated heavy lifting for an energy company. Octopus wanted the eMSP layer out of its integration path.
The solution
ihomer operates the OCPI roaming layer for Octopus Energy's EV tariff. We maintain the OCPI sessions with peer networks and normalise pricing and metering across OCPI versions. Octopus' product team works against a single eMSP-side API.
ihomer engineers sit in the OCPI working groups, so spec changes land in the platform without app-side changes on Octopus' side.
